Chapter 5 - I call this chapter: Discover the Talent
page 7 - Michelle Spohr
One of my master teachers during my student teaching was Ms. Spohr. I was fortunate to have had her in the beginning of my teaching career because she taught me the art of
teaching young freshman students the social aspects of becoming good young members of a classroom. For anyone who has taught before you know this is task is not only difficult but draining,
and sometimes demoralizing to a teacher. Not only was Ms. Spohr immune to the negative aspects she seemed to thrive on reaching students on their level and getting them to
realize not only that the individual student had a responsibility to the classroom environment but that they had a responsibility to themselves as human beings to be respectful!
Along with her duties as a teacher Ms. Spohr was the girls assistant basketball coach. I was amazed at the repoire she built up with the students. At lunch time it seemed like
there was always a line of young folks wanting to talk to Ms. Spohr, telling her stories, experiences, and asking for her advice on a myriad of topics.
We all need a 'hero' to believe in from time to time. I hope this section of this website excites you as much as it excited my mom (Karen) & I to make!
This Hero page is about Michelle Spohr - Teacher by day & Coach by night.
The following is a powerpoint I made as a tribute to Coach Spohr:
